All Saints Catholic College
Making a substantial school website easier for parents to use.
01 / THE STARTING POINT
The school had outgrown a website built for a much smaller organisation. Content had accumulated over time, navigation was difficult to use, and the site did not clearly distinguish the needs of parents from those of teaching staff.
A UK school website must make statutory information easy to find, while also helping parents complete ordinary tasks without searching through a wall of text.
02 / THE DECISION
We first established the statutory information the school needed to publish, then reviewed existing content and engagement to understand what was genuinely being used.
The information architecture was rebuilt around fast access, normally within two clicks. Dense subject information was rewritten into a consistent, readable page pattern used across the curriculum.
WHAT THE SITE HAD TO MAKE EASIER
- Find statutory information without searching.
- Help parents reach the right task quickly.
- Turn dense subject information into readable pages.
- Let staff keep key pages and news up to date.
03 / WHAT CHANGED
The new site gives parents clearer routes to the information they need, with site-wide search, editable news, translation into five additional languages and a high-visibility reading mode.
The reading mode is a practical alternative display, designed to help people who find standard screen presentation difficult to read.
04 / ONGOING CARE
The school has templates for new pages, and a regular staff editor can publish news without difficulty. BeardMonkey remains available for practical support and for the occasions when something needs additional judgement or technical help.
